The online version of our Directory of information materials for people affected by cancer has details of 1,900 booklets, leaflets, books and audiovisual materials for people affected by cancer. Most of the materials have been published in the last five years, but we have included some older ones that are still useful.
We use the Flesch readability score to test booklets and leaflets and the DISCERN quality tool to assess those that discuss treatment options. People affected by cancer review the books and DVDs and you can see details of all the books that have been reviewed, together with links to the reviews in the Book and DVD reviews listing. You can also read their reviews searching for the title of the book below. If you would like to review a book for Macmillan Cancer Support you can see the current titles available on our Cancer Voices network.
The 12th edition of the Directory of information materials for people affected by cancer (November 2011) is also available to order free from Macmillan Cancer Support on 0808 808 00 00 or online from our be.Macmillan website. You can see some sample pages [PDF, 582 kb].
